Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, these guided sessions will introduce you to safe carving practices and fundamental techniques. Come carve, learn, and enjoy the process!
What’s Included

Get ready to create your own adorable little caricatures in simple steps! These projects are beginner-friendly and teach essential whittling techniques. Follow the simple stages and bring your caricatures to life.

Getting there and access
Ellis House is a heritage building set in gardens, with free street parking on Milne St. Workshops are usually held in the garden, which is reached by a ramp at the rear of the building, leading directly off the street. There is also a flight of about twelve steps at the front. There are toilets on the ground floor.
If the weather turns, we move indoors to the kitchen, which looks onto the garden. There is one step and a raised threshold between the two.
We work seated at tables for most of the session, and breaks for tea and coffee are encouraged throughout. You're welcome to get up and move around whenever you need to. On a safety note, covered legs and close-toed shoes are the order of the day.
